Meet the Hosts

Liz Townley

Liz was introduced to public lands at a young age, growing up in the coastal mountains of Western Washington. If given a choice, she would gladly spend every day in the water, flipping over rocks, running up hills, catching any size or type of fish and swimming in big pools or fast water alike. After several oversees stints guiding rafts and studying environmental history, Liz graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Recreation Ecology. Currently, she works for the Forest Service Intermountain Regional Office and resides in Salmon, Idaho with her family and assortment of farm animals.

Rachel Layman

Rachel has been immersed in community-based conservation issues since 2011, leading Salmon Valley Stewardship's Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Education, and Trails programs throughout her career. She is also a digital designer & storyteller, website creator, and new media specialist who has managed much of Salmon Valley Stewardship's digital presence and communications work. Outside of the office, Rachel loves exploring Idaho and the rest of the wild west -skiing wintry slopes, spinning around on her mountain bike, dodging rattlesnakes, and adventuring with her trusty dog, Rye.

Mindy Crowell

Mindy was born and raised in Northern Idaho. After adventures in Washington, Italy and Chicago, Mindy couldn’t resist the call of the mountains, lakes and rivers that made her feel at home. She receieved her A B.A in Communication from Gonzaga University and served 5 years as a Program Director for a Developmental Disabilities Agency. Mindy is thrilled to serve with SVS as Fund Development and Collaboration Specialist. She has been helping organize, convene, and facilitate the Central Idaho’s public lands planning group, spearheaded by SVS. Mindy is also pursuing a graduate certificate through the University of Montana’s Natural Resource Conflict Resolution Program. Mindy loves traveling with her husband, Daniel, drinking good wine, and running Salmon’s many rugged and vast trails with her dog, Archer.
